Sylt has a dense restaurant scene — from the fish stand at the harbour to Michelin-starred kitchens. An orientation, not a ranking.
The island is known for its food far beyond its size. That ranges from institutions everyone has heard of to places only locals know.
We deliberately give no opening hours and no prices: on Sylt both change with the season and would be wrong sooner than right on a website. Do book in high season — evenings fill up.

From the fish stand to the wine list.
- Fish, straight up
- At the harbours in List and Hörnum, fish is served in its simplest and often best form: fresh, standing up, with a view of the water. Gosch in List is the best-known address and the origin of the whole chain.
- Sansibar, Rantum
- In the dunes south of Rantum, for decades perhaps the best-known beach restaurant in Germany. Famous for an extraordinary wine list. Difficult without a reservation in season.
- Kupferkanne, Kampen
- A café in a converted bunker complex with a sprawling garden above the Wadden Sea. Known for cake in slices you ought to share.
- Keitum
- The most Frisian village on the island, with thatched roofs and old captains' houses. Several restaurants and cafés in historic buildings — the place for a quiet dinner away from the beach scene.
- In Westerland
- The highest density of restaurants, cafés and bakeries sits around Friedrichstraße and the town hall square — all walkable from the apartment. The nearest supermarket is about six hundred metres away.
